Aimhigher Greater Merseyside

Aimhigher Greater Merseyside is based in the 4 universities of Merseyside, Edge Hill, Liverpool Hope, John Moores and Liverpool. There is an aimhigher group in every borough of Merseyside. The Aimhigher project is to support children from families who may not have ever been to universities. It gives them confidence in themselves and tries to make the consider going to university.

Phil, an Aimhigher Officer, arranged a meeting with St Chad's to discuss how St Chad's could work with the Aimhigher team at Edge Hill College. The school took an interest in the idea and took it to the pupils to see if they would like to get involved. The response was highly succesful and there are now three projects in the school; peer mentoring, sports leaders, and journalism.

Phil finds his job to be different each day, he says it can be challenging one day yet exciting and fun the next. He says he spends a lot of time in meetings, much to his disappointment. But his favourite times are spent working in the schools. He also spends time planning projects in his offices in Edge Hill.

Phil hopes that after the project we will be able to manage this online newspaper on our own and teach the next generation of Chadderbox Journalists the tools of the trade.
