St Chad 's was delighted to host a visit from their partner school in Kenya , St Mary's Catholic Boys School in Nyeri, in October. The visit marked the beginning of a three year curriculum project on global development and sustainability. Three members of staff, including the headteacher Brother Kombe, visited the school and spent time in lessons observing practice and staff and pupil interaction. They were very impressed with what they saw and felt that they had learnt new ways to deliver their lessons in Kenya . They were particularly interested in the amount of pupil participation in lessons and the learning that was going on independently. During their stay they also spent time in local primary schools, at the Moore Beaver and Cub pack and in St Edward's parish. The school held a very successful African Day for the year 7 pupils and parents, staff and pupils were invited to a Kenyan evening at the school during which they celebrated Kenyan song and dance and Brother Kombe addressed the audience. Meetings were held to discuss the progress of the curriculum project and the school is very excited about the next phase which will involve staff and pupils from St Mary's visiting St Chad 's.

Frodsham and Runcorn Local Pastoral Area Charity Fund Raiser
On Friday 26th September St Chad’s hosted the first ever social evening celebrating the Runcorn & Frodsham Local Pastoral Area (LPA). LPAs are the way Catholic parishes in a particular area are linked together with local schools, hospitals and hospices. Mr Keeley, Headteacher at St Chad’s Catholic High School attends to represent the local Catholic Secondary School.
The evening was enjoyed by all who attended and the fantastic raffle organised by Mr Alexsic raised over £250 for Halton Haven. Everyone enjoyed the music of Elbow Jane and the dancing of the Mayalee dancers. Andrew Keeley presented the cheque to Ron Povey from Halton Haven Hospice saying ‘I am delighted to handover this money on behalf of Runcorn and Frodsham LPA.
St Chad’s has always had close links with the Haven as Dom Valdez, the founder of Halton Haven, was a governor at St Chad’s. Also the Haven gave fantastic care to Fr Mike McCormack one of our governors and LPA member who sadly died last year.
