In remembrance of Gerry Egan
St Chad's held a memorial mass for their friend and colleague Gerry Egan who died suddenly earlier this year. Father Jonathan Mitchell led the mass which was attended by all the staff of St.Chad's and as many students who could fit in the new assembly hall. During the mass a plaque was unveiled and blessed as was the new cross and lectern Gerry helped make which were dedicated in his memory: the plaque reads;
In memory of our friend Gerry Egan
The cross and lectern in the new assembly hall were designed and built by John Wellman, St.Chad’s Head of Technology in 2009. The wood used to make them came from the teak table tops of the old Science labs which were demolished when the new Science block was built in 2009 and so symbolise the best of the old school continuing in the new one. The cross and lectern are dedicated to the memory of Gerry Egan, our Craft technician, who helped in their making and who served the school proudly from 2000 until his sudden death in 2010.
We were proud to present a cheque from a staff collection for £290 which Vicky Egan will present to Halton Haven

Well Done Abbie!
Saturday 31st January was a fantastic day for Abbie Hughes. She had reached the final of the National Taekwondo U16 Championships.
Abbie has trained hard for this event and we are proud to say that she competed so well that she came out of the competition as the overall winner of the Gold medal. Abbie is now the British Champion in coloured belt Taekwondo.
Well done Abbie!
St Chad's Snow Rescue Team!
During the recent extreme weather four of our students came to the rescue of an 85 year old lady who was 'marooned' in her house by the deep snow. Matthew Ward (Year 8), Alfie Grady (Year 8), Stephanie Ward (Year 11) and Anna Grady (Year 11) spent many hours clearing the front of the lady's house of snow using a variety of methods including their bare hands! I was very proud to receive a thank you call from the lady on behalf of our four Good Samaritans! We encourage our students at all times to demonstrate the living love of Christ through spreading the Good News - there could not be a better example than this! Well done to all four of you.
