St.Chads has been identified as a target school by Liverpool John Moores University and this has been another successful year in the relationship between St.Chads and John Moores. Activities this year have been focussed on study skills needed to achieve at higher academic levels as well as JMU offering subject specific days to complement our curriculum.
- Year 8 have attended events at JMU and within school as part of this initiative and this included the ‘World of Work’ study programme which delivers the generic skills needed for the workplace, and shows pupils that these skill are needed in school too.
- Year 11 have attended an event called ‘Exam buster’ which promotes motivation and exam based skills. As part of the day they attended revision workshops prior to the beginning of their GCSE exams.
- Year 12 had opportunity to attend sessions related to A2 skills like critical thinking and revision skills. These sessions were on a drop in basis and students could explore the grounds of the University.
- Pupils in year 9 choosing the ‘Health Diploma’ option in year 10 attended a ‘Health based’ programme which included hands on activities on CPR and the job of a paramedic. This exciting subject specific event will be valuable to enhance our teaching of the new diploma course in Yr 10.
