Advanced AS, A2 and the Double Award Qualification.

The AS and Advanced GCE in Health and Social Care has been designed to form a qualification which provide knowledge and understanding of this vocational area. They are ideal qualifications if you want a broad background in Health and Social Care and will allow you to progress to:
It can also be studied as a stand alone qualification with a combination of other A levels.
Learning is applied to a range of work- related contexts. This is achieved through a variety of approaches, including, work experience, links with local employers, case studies and research.
You can complete a Single award (AS) in one year and progress to an Advanced level (A2) in the second year.
Unlike some of the other A levels who have two units you will complete three units in each year.
You will have four lessons a week Or
You may choose the Double Award.
On successful completion of this award you will achieve two A2 level qualifications.
It is made up of six units in year one and six in year two.
The double award is eight lessons a week.
You may want to complete the double award and choose one other A level to compliment it for example Biology, Sociology or Psychology.
Assessment
You are expected to produce portfolio evidence for some units and sit external tests for others.
