St Chads

Modern Foreign Languages and Language College

St Chad's have made links with many foreign schools over the past few years. They have achieved Specialist Language College status, and as a result have made ties with Spain, China, France, Germany and Kenya. This section of the website details some of the trips that they have been on, and even has the odd photo gallery for you to look at!

Paris Trip 2007

At midnight on Friday 13th July we left behind the rain clouds of Runcorn and set off for sunny Paris. On Saturday we visited the impressive gardens at Fontainebleau and then tried our hand at archery, trapeze and a team challenge course followed by a well-deserved swim in the pool back at the PGL château.

On Sunday we completed a town trail in the lovely historic town of Brie Comte Robert and made time for a little souvenir shopping at the outdoor market before going in to the centre of Paris to take a river cruise and see all the main tourist sights, including Notre Dame Cathedral, the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe.

Our trip was completed on Monday by a visit to Disneyland Paris before we set off for home after an exhausting but pleasant trip.

Barcelona Trip 2007

Mrs Jones, Mr Lear & Miss Manning took 28 pupils to Barcelona this month. We flew from Liverpool John Lenon Airport with Easyjet and the group were keen to do a last minute gym work out in the departure lounge (some ace photos of them on the shared area too!). We also entertained the waiting travellers on the piano... a real delight!!

We stayed in a 3star all inclusive hotel with a choice of 3 pools. During the trip we visited the Dali museum at Figueras, went shopping at the Nou Camp for souvenirs, relaxed and took in the amazing views at Park Guell and then had a bowling competition in the evening. On the second day we had a full day at the Port Aventura theme park and most pupils sampled some incredible rides.

Miss Manning, Mrs Jones, Stephanie Darlington and Rebecca Reese on the other hand, had a lovely sunbathe and sampled a very tame childrens balloon ride! We went to the beach for a game of football on friday night and Miss Manning took some of the girls shopping.

Mrs Jones would like to thank all who participated in the trip and made it such a fantastic experience!

Boulogne-Sur-Mer July 2007

All the way to France and back – in one day???? Well, it certainly was a long coach trip but well worth it.  Pupils from year 7 got to Dover just as the sun was rising, and they enjoyed a hearty breakfast on the short ferry crossing. We spent a little bit of time in France exploring the old town of Boulogne (it’s on the northern coast of France, so not too far from the ferry terminal). We walked the city walls, did a bit of souvenir shopping, and even had the chance to make – and eat – our own crêpes (traditional French pancakes) with a choice of strawberry jam or thick, sticky chocolate sauce (no prizes for guessing which was the most popular!). On the way back to the ferry we stopped at a local hypermarché  (like Asda but bigger, and full of interesting things to buy). By early evening we were back on the ferry, and by 11pm we were all back home in Runcorn, tired (well, the teachers were, anyway) and looking forward to giving our friends and family the gifts we had bought during our day in France.
