Why Study A Level Applied Science?

The course is designed for students who want to follow a multi-disciplinary approach to Science instead of individual Sciences.  Applied Science allows students to develop their skills of investigation and problem solving in a vocational context, by applying their knowledge and understanding of Scientific ideas and techniques. Using skills of primary research, data collection, analysis and evaluation.

Applied Science offers a practical approach to Scientific studies.


What Units will I study?

AS Single Award GCE: Candidates take Units 1, 2 and 3.
AS Double Award GCE
: Candidates take 1, 2, 3 and 4 plus two of Units 5, 6 and 7
A2 Single Award GCE
: Candidates take Units 1, 2, 3 and 8 plus one of Units 9 and 16, plus one of Units 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15.
A2 Double Award GCE
: Candidates take Units 5, 6 and 7 plus three of Units 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15.


 
Progression in to Employment:

The course is designed to give students a broad introduction to the Science industry. The course prepares them with skills that they require to work in a variety of Scientific fields.

 

Progression in to Further Education

Candidates can aim to progress to enter a variety of HND and Degree level course in Science related subjects.

 

Course Entry Requirements:
Students will need 4 GCSEs at Grade C and above, including Science and English
