The course involves learning how to use microphones and recording equipment, including effects and mixing desk. All lessons will take place in a state-of-the-art Music block that has excellent facilities. You will also learn how to arrange and compose music on computers using Cubase software.

AS level
You will have to produce 2 computer arrangements and a Rock band recording, in any style, on CD. There is also a listening exam on modern Pop and Rock music.

A2 level
You will have to produce 2 computer pieces and a recording using more microphones and processing. There is a listening exam on modern music and bands.

It is a help if you play an instrument or sing but not essential. The main thing is that you are very interested in modern Pop and Rock music and are happy to work with computers and recording equipment. If you are, it is a very interesting and satisfying course for boys or girls.

This is also a great qualification for any job, not just the Music business, because it shows creativity combined with technical skill.

Students will need 5 GCSEs Grades A*-C including English. A GCSE in Music is advantageous but not essential.
