What is involved in A-Level PE?

It is a two year course with 4 units of work that are a mixture of theory and practical of theory and practical lessons. There are many different ways of learning, working and presenting your work.
You choose two practical activities/roles to specialise in individual research work, Sports Leaders Course (Optional) and Optional Coaching Awards.

St Chad's has excellent PE facilities, including a state-of-the-art Gymnasium , indoor and outdoor courts.

Course Content

4 Units which include:

  • Exercise Physiology - How does the Body Work and adapt to exercise and training?
  • Skills  Acquisition - How do we learn physical skills?
  • Sports PsychologyóHow does your mind help you to perform in sport?
  • Sport in Society - How and why do we bother with sport?
  • Practical - How well can you perform in your best sport?


Assessment:

One 2 hour written exam (30%)
Ongoing teacher assessment for your  practical (20%)

Entry Requirements

5 Good A* - C Grades
Grade B  in GCSE PE
